The Swashbuckler Collection is Al Bane’s signature hybrid series, blending a robust 2-inch shoulder body with a tapered 1-inch front run anchored by heavy-duty welded steel rings and buckle harness hardware. Handcrafted in Los Angeles for maximum stage presence and ergonomic weight distribution.

This collection was inspired by three particular people. The first was my friend Aaron Lee, who in 2024 asked me to build a custom strap with a big metal ring. At first, I hesitated because I didn't want to copy existing designs on the market.

Later, Tony Higbee asked for a custom hybrid—a 2-inch strap tapering down to 1-inch past the ring. We engineered it with faux crocodile lambskin to match his guitar and stage look. Brad "Critter" Wolfman came into the shop during Tony's build, fell in love with the silhouette, and designed a custom flat-stud pattern that became the JD motif.

Thinking about Johnny Depp as the ultimate swashbuckler, the name stuck. The true engineering feat is securing the structural rings with vertical load-bearing stitching without punching through the leather's tensile strength or breaking decorative patterns.
